Parking Proposal
At the front of the surgery is a Car Park owned by the Bristol City Council. We understand that many of our patients use this car park to attend the surgery.
Consequently, together with the Patient Board, the surgery wanted to make you aware of current proposals.
The council are proposing:
- A £1 charge per hour for a maximum of 4 hours, no return within 2 hours
- Charges will be applicable Monday – Sunday 08:00 – 18:00
- Parking will remain free for blue badge holders with no time limit
- Some annual permits will be available at £280 + VAT for the year
To date, this has been discussed at Cabinet, where the proposal was accepted, and the next key date is the 21st February 2023 when the Budget is voted on at a full council meeting.
If you would like to support/object to the plans, written statements can be submitted for circulation to councillors by midday on the 20th February 2023.

For interest, as a Surgery we have urged consideration of the below:
- A free initial hour to facilitate attendance at appointments
- An increase in the number of spaces for blue badge holders
- Any pay machines to accept cash (to protect those who are not able to use app technology/who do not carry cards)
- An increase in signage to explain the car park is owned by the Council and not the Surgery (individuals often come to us with regards to car park concerns in error)
- The Council be advised that annual permits will restrict access to those wanting to park for short periods, to support local businesses and access services, including the surgery
If you share our thoughts, we would really appreciate you informing the Council.
If the proposal also is approved at Council there will be a fuller public consultation on it later in the year, at an as yet unspecified date, before a final decision is taken.
